At the Stone

Amid the countless stones of fame

I find the one that bears his name.

Trembling inside I draw near;

What in God's name brought me here?

Is this what's left to tell the tale?
It can’t be all that will prevail.

Inscriptions on some cold gray stone

Can’t sum up the man I’ve known.

If there's one regret I've held
I never told you how I felt.

Finding words is just so hard

For matters of the heart.

I really love you, did you know?

Can you hear me now somehow?

Wish we could go back in time,
Wish you could just send a sign.

Images and memories,
flashes of forgotten dreams,
jumbling up in my poor mind
as I try to put the past behind.

You never said the words outright

Yet I saw you look at me with pride.

So many words we should have shared
forever will be left unsaid.

If there's one regret I've held
I never told you how I felt.

Finding words is just so hard

For matters of the heart.

I really love you, did you know?

Can you hear me now somehow?

Wish we could go back in time,
Wish you could just send a sign.
