Lyrics: The Sunday School Blues
by Franklyn Schaefer

Sunday morning the alarm sounds at eight
I better get going or I will be late.
Just want to roll over and catch some more z…s
I know I really should get up and go to church—
It’s where Jesus would be!

So, I get in the shower, when it goes on the fritz.

I get soap I my eyes and have to do the cold rinse,
I can never find appropriate clothes to put on

My shirts are all wrinkled and my ties are all gone.

I’ve got the Sunday School Blues
I’ve got the Sunday School Blues

I’ve got the Sunday, the Sunday School Blues

Every time it’s Sunday morning,

It’s like the devil’s on the loose.
I’ve got the Sunday, the Sunday School Blues

I’m off to the kitchen for a cup of dark roast
but all I can manage, is a slice of burnt toast.
And just when I'm thinking: I must keep my calm,

Snoopy, our dog, starts to chase his own tale—

It’s like a crazy farm!

Then we hit the road running, faster than fast,
When half way to church we run out of gas.
The kids in the back seat make a fuss and complain
Just then there is thunder and down pours the rain.

I’ve got the Sunday School Blues
I’ve got the Sunday School Blues

I’ve got the Sunday, the Sunday School Blues

Every time it’s Sunday morning,

It’s like the devil’s on the loose.
I’ve got the Sunday, the Sunday School Blues

Then I get to God’s place, just barely on time,

I’m greeted with hugs and welcoming smiles.

When the chorus starts up, I take a seat in the pew,

The Spirit starts moving and I feel brand new.

No more Sunday School Blues
No more Sunday School Blues

No more Sunday, Sunday School Blues.

There’s only one thing you can do:

Get your tuchus in the pew!

To beat the Sunday, the Sunday School Blues.

No more Sunday School Blues
No more Sunday School Blues

No more Sunday, Sunday School Blues.

There’s only one thing you can do:

Get your tuchus in the pew!

To beat the Sunday, the Sunday School Blues.
